INTRODUCTION TO FUAD RAHMAN

“I’m participating in the ISA program to develop my project in sustainable tourism through tailored training prepared for the fellows. I hope that the program will build our capacities in specific areas of my interest in the project management sphere.”

Fuad Rahman (39 years) from Indonesia has been working as a government officer at the Marine and Fisheries Department of Central Lombok Regency for almost 14 years, mostly in the conservation and community development field. He is also the founder of Better Together Indonesia, a foundation established in August 2020 that focuses to develop sustainable tourism in Indonesia and is based in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. He graduated from Brawijaya University with a degree in Aquaculture in 2005 and finished his master´s in Estate Crops Product Technology at the Gadjah Mada University in 2009.

His ISA project is focused on promoting sustainable tourism in Indonesia through an integrated website that houses crowdfunding and marketplace services. He is conducting a project called Better Together Indonesia (www.bettertogether.id), an integrated crowdfunding and marketplace company that gives opportunities for sustainable tourism stakeholders in Indonesia to raise funds, market local products and services for supporting sustainable tourism initiatives. His project will first focus on eastern Indonesia, encompasses 4 geographical units (Nusa Tenggara Island, Sulawesi Island, Maluku Island, Papua Island) and consist of 13 provinces (Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, West Papua and mainland of Papua).
