Introduction of Tarba Abidine

“I am going to take part in ISA, because I believe that we need to include sustainability as a criterion in the building process in Mauritania.”

Tarba Abidine is an Architect from Mauritania and owns an architecture business called GRAPHIQ. She is working in the design and construction of buildings using mud as primary construction material. She works for the International Labour Office in a project that develop the skills of natives in mud building techniques. The trainees later on create their own business with the help of ILO and can become trainers within the program.

Her ISA project includes the research and design of sustainable, adaptable and affordable buildings for the environment of Mauritania. Mud is the preferred primary material as it is locally available, but the project makes allocation for other applicable materials. The direct result of her project will be a constructed structure in a rural area.
