NATURAL STRAWS FROM LEPIRONIA GRASS

“I am taking part in the ISA because I believe that solution from the nature Lepironia grass, an alternative to single-use plastic, is vital in reducing plastic waste and pollution, mitigate to climate change, and improving the livelihoods of disadvantaged people. With the mission to reduce plastic straws by 2027, together we are making the world greener and better.”

 

Vo Quoc Thao Nguyen (35 years old) is a social entrepreneur from Vietnam. She is the founder and CEO of Green Joy, a social enterprise that tackles single-use plastic straws and utensils by compostable replacement from natural grass Lepironia. 

 

 

Her ISA project focuses on producing eco-friendly and plant-based grass straws and utensils to reduce plastic waste and pollution, improve the livelihoods of farmers and local women in the Mekong Delta region, and raise awareness among the consumers and F&B operators about responsible consumption and production. Her project supports overall strategies like reducing emissions, tackling waste, and creating more social and environmental impact globally.
