INTRODUCTION OF BOGDAN SKOKOVIC

“By taking part in the International Sustainability Academy program, I aspire to highlight critical environmental issues regarding tourism in my country and develop meaningful alternatives with sustainable development goals at the forefront.”

Bogdan Skokovic (25 years) is co-founder of award-winning start-up ‘Rematter’, a student project which aims to present local residue materials as sustainable alternatives. Currently, he is pursuing a master’s degree in Sustainability, Society and Environment at Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel.

His ISA project is focused on preserving the legacy of the rural region in his home country by revitalizing an abandoned village school and reshaping it into a sustainable development education hub and visitor centre. For various reasons, natural landscapes in Serbia suffered from ungoverned tourism buildings development with serious environmental issues and without attention to sustainable progress. Bogdan aims to change this by instilling knowledge and skills into village communities through workshops and by attracting mindful tourists to the region.
