ISA Alumni Network (ISA-AN)

Welcome to the ISA Alumni Network

The ISA Alumni Network is a dynamic global community of sustainability leaders united by a shared experience at the International Sustainability Academy (ISA) in Hamburg, Germany. More than just former fellows, ISA alumni are passionate changemakers from across the world, diverse in culture, tradition, and expertise, who are collectively advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Through this interactive network, alumni continue to collaborate on impactful projects, build lifelong connections, and inspire new generations of sustainability innovators. Whether past, present, or future, all ISA fellows are part of this vibrant ecosystem driving local and global transformation.

  • Achievements and Impact

The ISA Alumni Network (ISA-AN) continues to prove that lasting impact begins with meaningful collaboration. What started as a fellowship has evolved into a global ecosystem for sustainable innovation. With over 70 active members across 40 DAC nations, the network is translating ideas into action and results.

Here’s what ISA-AN has achieved so far:

    Cross-Border Collaboration
Alumni Connect has facilitated four successful international collaboration projects, connecting alumni from India–Nepal, Nigeria–The Gambia, Kenya–Netherlands, and Kenya–DR Congo, with initiatives focused on education, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.

    Public Engagement at Scale
In 2024, ISA-AN co-hosted two major public events in partnership with the Alumniportal Deutschland, each attracting over 300 registered participants. These events fostered South–South and South–North exchanges and opened the floor to solution-oriented dialogue on global sustainability challenges.

    Academic and Professional Growth
Through the network’s connections, alumni have accessed 5 PhD placements in Germany and multiple Master’s programs, enhancing their ability to lead and implement SDG-aligned initiatives back home.

    Scaling Real Impact
ISA-AN alumni have upscaled over 25 projects in their home countries—bringing sustainability solutions to more communities and increasing their reach and effectiveness.

    Network Expansion and Subnetworks
The Alumni Connect program has also led to the formation of two active subnetworks, strengthening regional and thematic collaboration across the ISA community.

  • Subnetworks

To deepen thematic collaboration and amplify impact, ISA-AN has launched two active subnetworks in 2025: the Education Subnetwork and the Nutrition & Agriculture Subnetwork.

These groups bring together alumni with shared passions and expertise to collaboratively address pressing global issues within their fields. Fellows in these subnetworks are currently co-developing international projects aimed at transforming education systems and improving food security through sustainable agriculture and nutrition practices.

Backed by ISA-AN’s global reach and the Alumni Connect framework, these subnetworks serve as incubators for innovation, peer support, and cross-border teamwork. Both groups are now preparing to launch their first international collaboration projects, marking a bold step toward solution-driven action on a global scale.
